Rangely District Hospital provides several healthcare services to the community including the family practice clinic, 25 bed acute care hospital, level 4 trauma center, long term care, assisted living, home health and emergency medical services. Our physicians typically treat 16 to 20 patients a day in the clinic, 3-5 ER patients/day and one to two inpatient admissions a week. This provides time for physician’s to truly get to know their patients but also enjoy a challenging and diverse practice. Rangely District Hospital recently updated all radiology equipment to digital systems. Modalities include a four slice CAT scan, x-ray, ultrasound, mammography and a mobile MRI. Images can be read in less than an hour and forwarded to a specialist by the time the patient has scheduled an appointment. Other ancillary services include a lab, cardiopulmonary, and physical therapy. Rangely District Hospital provides ample benefits including student loan reimbursement as well as seeking out grants for physicians working in rural areas.
Community: Rangely is a small community of about 2,500 residents located on the beautiful White River 90 miles north of Grand Junction. This opportunity is ideal for a physician who appreciates the great outdoors and the charm of small town living. The position allows for ample time to enjoy the Western slopes of the Colorado Rockies. Activities include skiing at Steamboat Springs, Vail, Aspen, Glenwood and many other world class ski resorts. Kenny Reservoir is located 5 minutes from town and is excellent for water skiing and fishing. World class elk and deer hunting can be experienced in Colorado’s famous “Area 10” just 20 minutes east of town. Abundant BLM land (Public Lands) surrounds Rangely and provide the area with several mountain bike and hiking trails. A rock crawling area has been developed just outside of town for those who enjoy the thrill of all terrain vehicles. Dinosaur National Monument is another outdoor resource just 20 minutes to the north. This area provides excellent hiking, mountain biking, and white water rafting with spectacular views.
The community of Rangely offers three great schools; elementary, middle school and high school. Colorado Northwestern Community College is located on the mesa above town. Local residents benefit from free tuition and high school students can graduate with their associate’s degree. This saves two years of time and tuition. Those who take advantage of this opportunity can complete a master’s degree in the same time metropolitan students complete a bachelor’s degree. Young families have found rural Rangely an ideal setting for raising their children.
The community also has an excellent Recreation Center with an indoor Olympic size swimming pool, cardio room, weight lifting equipment, racquetball courts and several organized activities for all ages and interests.
